NTT ICT partner with CommVault to launch Archive as a Service in response to government data management woes

In response to challenges facing Government and Corporates, the flexible and secure cloud-based archive solution significantly reduces costs, simplifies operations and enhances regulatory compliance

SYDNEY, June 16, 2014 - NTT Communications ICT Solutions (NTT ICT), today unveils Archive as a Service powered by CommVault, offering government agencies and corporates a new flexible and secure cloud-based archiving solution at a critical time.

Archive as a Service, powered by CommVault, caters specifically to the policy, compliance and commercial pressures faced by governments, enabling agencies to achieve ultimate compliance at significantly reduced costs. The service is located in a government certified Datacentre in Canberra, a shared facility that already houses multiple government agencies. The service will be launched in Canberra and then rolled out through New South Wales and Victoria to address the archiving and storage requirements for the wider corporate market.

Tarquin Bellinger, General Manager Enterprise Services of NTT ICT, commented:

“Our offering of Archive as a Service comes at a critical time for government agencies when the political agenda is driving cost-savings as cuts are changing the landscape. At the same time, governments specifically face the challenge of exponentially growing data, increasingly demanding compliance requirements and significant consequences for non-compliance.

Gerry Sillars, VP Cloud solutions Group at CommVault, commented:

“NTT ICT is taking a pioneering position by offering Archive as a Service in this dedicated way, which could revolutionise how government agencies will protect and store data going forward. Archiving is a complex but vital data management function and Archive as a Service directly addresses many critical compliance and efficiency challenges facing governments.”

CommVault’s Area Vice President, Cloud Solutions Group Justin Cooper added, “One of the key benefits of a CommVault powered cloud solution is that you no longer need to be locked into a single storage or server vendor relationship. In turn this means service providers can implement a mix of low, medium and high performance storage services across multiple vendors to best suit their customers’ needs, just as NTT ICT is doing."

Benefits of NTT ICT’s Archive as a Service
• Addresses a host of business requirements including legal discovery readiness, email storage optimisation, regulatory compliance and data security
• Low-cost off-site storage to free up priority resources
• The ability to customise policies to effectively manage data
• A self-service portal with indexed archive data for regulatory compliance
• Secure integration into existing systems
Archive as a Service gives customers greater service and value in the cloud and complement offerings of identity management and database management. Further cost savings from Archive as a Service are enabled when combined with other services such as Database Management as a Service, Backup as a Service, Storage as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service.
