ABOUT THE ROLE

NTT have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Architecture team! This is a key role in the support, development and deployment of complex technical solutions within NTT, driving outcomes aligned with customers' end to end requirements whilst utilizing NTT's capabilities.

The Customer Architect will provide support primarily through the following functions:

  1. Acting as an operations specialist with the other solutions teams, with a view to improving the technical quality of conceptual solutions
  2. As an advisor and consultant to existing customers working with customers' design authorities, on technical architecture and aligning solutions with NTT's roadmaps
  3. By enabling transition capability, scoping and designing migration methodologies, to support onboarding of non-NTT landscapes to NTT managed private and/or public clouds

In addition to the above, the Customer Architect will also act as a communication and technical facilitator between NTT's Engineer communities and the customer's design teams, with support from the Presales team.

This role entails the following responsibilities and expectations:

Operations Specialisation

Working closely with the Presales and Engineering teams you will:

  • Provide and maintain technical expertise and expert knowledge of NTT's existing architecture, supporting products and technologies, across network, compute and application rationalization and emerging technologies.
  • Support the Presales team during customer engagement and requirements collection
  • Support the Presales team in their creation of a fit for purpose, concept and high level designs
  • Engaging with Engineering teams to create appropriate and complete low level designs for complex solutions that meet customer requirements
  • Identify and document risks, through sound judgement and communicate these risks to all stakeholders
  • Support the enablement of Presales through mentoring and technical education
  • Assess incoming requests and proposals, to determine complexity and further CA engagement 

Customer Advisor

On a consultancy/demand driven basis, you work closely with customer design teams to:

  • Identify gaps within a customer's architectural capabilities and identify any knowledge gaps
  • Operate as a design authority, leveraging technical expertise and industry knowledge to provide consultation to customers
  • Recommend applicable reference architectures, to meet customer infrastructure requirements
  • Detail customer IaaS/cloud environments, developing a clear understanding of a customer's application dependencies, specifically with regards to designing infrastructure
  • Guide customers through NTT processes and frameworks to facilitate complex moves, adds and changes
  • Collaborate with the technical community, providing communication, education and advise on customer solutions, technologies and techniques. Align with Presales and the PMO's project managers to ensure  consistent front to the customer
  • Develop and maintain, as built diagrams, architectural principles and low level design documents

Transition Enablement

From time to time you may be required to support the enablement of transition in services for cloud customers. If required, you will:

  • Support and assist the customer in the completion of the Preinstallation Questionnaire
  • Create detailed transition plans to relocate customer infrastructure/clouds to NTT managed clouds/platforms for customers to run their applications.
  • Support the Presales team in identifying and qualifying suitable resources to perform transition services
  • Support the Presales team in the generation of statements of work (SOW) to detail included transition services
  • Support Engineering by engaging with project oversight during the transition phase
  • Undertake short periods of onsite consulting  
about your skills and experience

To be successful in this role it is essential you possess the following key knowledge and experiences;

  • Cloud Services environments
  • Cloud solution architecture
  • Managed services and production environments governed by ITIL
  • Distil and explain technical concepts to less technical people

Experience with:

  • Virtualisation experience with current Linux and Window systems
  • Network, Service provider, Telco and cloud architectures
  • Storage technologies, NAS and SAN architectures, cloud block and object storage
  • BCP Business continuity, Disaster/Recovery planning, storage and backup and restore techniques

Knowledge of:

  • Modern virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM or Xen
  • Modern cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS and OpenStack
  • Emerging technologies and automation/DevOps tools and techniques

In addition, it is expected that the candidate will have and can prove:

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
